Asians Doing Weird Stuff: 'Tentacle Erotica’

East Asians fascinate — about as fully alien, as they are, from Western culture as one can get on this, God’s Green Earth, save for, perhaps, untouched indigenous tribes of the Amazon or remote islands of the Andaman Sea.

(But in such places, you’re more likely to be speared than culturally enriched, like the missionary who went to spread God’s word and ended up dispatched to meet Him, presumably, in the afterlife.)

East Asian languages, social norms, religious traditions, aesthetics, and basically every element of what makes a culture a culture are anathema to the traditions of the West.

As I recount in my memoir, Broken English Teacher: Notes From Exile, I once taught in Taiwan — a former colony of Japan, still a bit of an open wound to the national pride. At one time, a student declared to me during class, apropos of nothing, that “Japan are pervert.”

I didn’t correct his grammar, because my personal philosophy vis a vis English as a second language (ESL) education is to facilitate the exchange of ideas above imparting the technical nuances of the complex English language.

It was enough that I knew what he meant, as I had seen a healthy smattering of Japanese porn by that time, and knew something of its perversions, including a peculiar genre of simulated rape gangbangs of seemingly unwilling, protesting schoolgirls in pleated skirts on moving trains.

Further research uncovered deeper levels of depravity. However, up until recently, I missed at least one unsettling Japanese fetish manifested in art.

When, intrigued, I heard Tucker Carlson, some time ago, reference a genre of smut he termed “tentacle porn,” I made a note to myself to look into it.

Now I have, and, with the prior knowledge that its origins were Japanese, it’s pretty much what I imagined it might be.

Via Wikipedia:

“Tentacle erotica (触手強姦, shokushu goukan, ‘tentacle violation’) or tentacle rape is a type of pornography most commonly found in Japan that integrates traditional pornography with elements of bestiality, fantasy, horror, and science fiction. It is found in some horror or hentai titles, with tentacled creatures (usually fictional monsters) having sexual intercourse, predominantly with females or, to a lesser extent, males. Tentacle erotica can be consensual but mostly contains elements of rape.”

By way of comparison, the soft, cuddly BDSM of the Fifty Shades of Grey stripe that entertains Western housewives looks milquetoast, no? Almost puritanical.

Inquiring minds may ask: what sexual itch would depictions of alien octopus cartoon rape scratch? I surely have no idea, but people get their rocks off to all kind of things I can’t relate to.

For further reading, some of the hits of Tentacle Porn include, via Goodreads:

  • “Stalked by the Kraken (Monstrous Matches, #1)”
  • “Squirm: Virgin Captive of the Billionaire Biker Tentacle Monster (The Squirm Files, #1)”
  • “Taken from Below: Monster Erotica”

All that to say: a good reading list for the kids, right?

At any rate, tentacle erotica literature can’t be much filthier than the LGBTQ4GF150+++™ smut public schoolchildren are force-fed for Gender Equity™. At the very least, it’s less sanctimonious and not explicitly marketed to children.
