Minnesota’s loving and liberal governor, Tim Walz (D), recently penned legislation “protecting the rights of LGBTQ people from Minnesota and other states to receive gender affirming health care.”
Via AP News:
“‘We want every Minnesotan to grow up feeling safe, valued, protected, celebrated, and free to exist as their authentic versions of themselves,’ Walz said. ‘Protecting and supporting access to gender affirming health care is essential to being a welcoming and supportive state’…
According to the Human Rights Campaign, more than 150 bills targeting trans rights have been introduced in other states. Walz singled out neighboring South Dakota, where Gov. Kristi Noem signed a ban on gender affirming care for minors last month.”
South Dakota, Texas, and other states have not passed legislation banning adults from accessing any form of medical “transition.” This is dishonest framing.
What these bills have done is outlaw parents and medical institutions from irreparably damaging their children with chemical castration (puberty blockers) and surgical mutilation (like “top surgery”).
Democrats like Tim Walz, on the other hand, wholeheartedly endorse such practices. To congratulate himself, the governor had his handlers upload the following self-aggrandizing Tweet:
This common argument that transgender “care” is “life-affirming” or “lifesaving” deserves to be debunked.
While “gender transition” for adults may, in fact, prove over time to be a net benefit (look at Blaire White as an example of a well-adjusted, apparently mentally healthy transgender women), it is most assuredly not “lifesaving” even when in situations when it helps an adult feel more like themselves.
It’s certainly not “lifesaving” in the case of “trans youth.”
The closest argument that can be made, which LGBTQ+++™ activists often do make, is that not allowing parents to surgically mutilate the children in their custody will result in their suicide.
But if said children so desire cutting off their genitals and/or undergoing hormone replacement therapy (thereby preventing the natural, biologically necessary process of puberty) to the point that they will attempt to kill themselves if they are denied such liberties, that’s a mental health problem.
It should be addressed through psychological therapy – safely away from the operating table and unethical, money-hungry surgeons who profit off of the neuroses of the LGBTQ+++™ “community.”
“Affirmative” surgery is a growing and hugely profitable industry. Below, Dr. Ellen Clayton of Vanderbilt Health’s Clinic for Transgender Health brags about how much money these surgeries bring into the institution and warns any doctors that might have moral qualms that they aren’t welcome:
If we’ve learned one thing from COVID, it’s that the profiteering medical industry has no interest in patient welfare. If it can make a buck at their patient’s expense, it’s just as good as a dollar made actually helping them improve their health. It’s all about the Benjamins.
Again, if consenting adults wish to mutilate themselves in a quest for self-actualization, no matter how ill-conceived, such is their liberty as free Americans.
But these unnecessary, brutal, and life-altering surgeries are outright criminal when they’re conducted on children who lack the capacity to consent because they can’t understand the consequences of what they are consenting to.
This used to be a common-sense position shared by decent people of all ideological persuasions.
At some point, whether with the sword or the pen, the West will return to this principle. A parallel society/economy that full-throatedly rejects the most insane excesses of Social Justice™ like this is a good way to accelerate the changes we want to see in the world.
